Internship Program Overview
The Molina Healthcare Internship Program shares an objective to create a stepping stone for students and alumni who aim to be professionals and future leaders in the healthcare business profession. We aim to develop talent by providing students and alumni with experiential learning, formal training, and opportunities to interact with healthcare business professionals who will act as coaches and mentors along the way. All of our interns should have the:
* Ability to acquire healthcare business knowledge through a rotation of departments
* Ability to interact with high level management, such as Managers/Directors/Vice-Presidents
* Ability to adhere to deadlines and effectively manage multiple tasks
* Ability to work in a team
* Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to an level of excellence
* Ability to abide by Molina’s policies
* Ability to maintain attendance to support required quality and quantity of work
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and to comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
* Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective work relationships with a diverse network of coworkers, clients, members and healthcare providers

* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
* Knowledge of statistical software or programming language (SQL, SAS, R, etc.) is a plus.

Description of projects, duties and responsibilities
The intern will work under the Manager of Quality Management and will be:
* Supporting quality staff in designing, implementing, and evaluating quality improvement interventions and activities to improve plan’s Quality metric performance and remove barriers to care
* Performing data analyses to assist in developing intervention strategies, identifying potential target population, and researching barriers to care
* Producing various scheduled and ad-hoc reports and modify existing processes or reports based on requests and data validation
* Collaborating with Quality staff to develop new and innovative tools and reports to provide actionable insights and support decision-making
* Identifying process improvement opportunities within the department, provide potential solutions, and implement appropriate changes to enhance efficiency
* Assisting in coordinating medical record collection process, validating various internal and external data sources, and monitoring project status for the annual HEDIS medical records project, prospective or retrospective medical record review
* Performing other tasks as assigned
