Finance and Accounting Internships An Overview
Finance and accounting internships can be a great stepping stone towards a lucrative career. If you think of some of the biggest name companies in the US, chances are you would have thought of at least a few of the top finance and accounting companies. Companies such as Goldman Sachs, Deloitte, KPMG, Ernst and Young, Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, and Wells Fargo are just to name several. One time or another, you probably heard the name of these companies tossed around in the media. They are typically very profitable, hire thousands of employees, and pay some of the best salaries and benefits.
As a finance and accounting intern, you will be involved mainly with quantitative tasks, such as accounting, bookkeeping, financial modeling, data analysis, etc. While students with diverse education background can still succeed at these internships, having a major specifically in business and accounting will help greatly.
One of the most important tips we can give to any students interested in pursuing this field is to always attend networking events. Most, if not all, of the top paying companies in finance dedicate a substantial amount of resources to recruiting events at colleges. We highly recommend that you attend these networking events, dress to impress, and have a resume handy for recruiters. Often times, the recruiters will have a brief 5-10 minute interview with you on the spot and if youre not ready, dont expect a call back.
