General contracting firm specializing in high-end interior construction offers internship positions for engineering, architecture, design and construction project management students in their senior year of college or in graduate school.
Job duties include: shadowing experienced project managers; organizing and maintaining timelines and work schedules; monitoring subcontractor progress; reporting to clients, subcontractors, and project managers; participating in final installations. The interns will have exposure to various stages of an interior consrtuction from initial blueprints to demolition, to construction, to finish and furnishing. It is a unique hands on opportunity for anyone preparing for a career in project management, architecture, engineering or interior design.
The program runs five days a week, from mid-May through August. It includes a stipend of $1500 per month. We will gladly complete a letter of recommendation and assist with academic procedures, if required, for credit.
Interior Management, Inc. 8 Full-time, Paid Responsibilities
Interns are required to work Monday through Friday from 8 to 5. The program runs from mid-May through the end of August. Interns can expect to be placed with an experienced Project Manager who will supervise an ongoing residential renovation. Interns will initially learn the requirements of the project itself, from demolition to construction to design. They will study the timeline and meet the subcontractors. They will take meeting notes and learn the documentation requirements of the project. As they demonstrate competence, they will be expected to take on more and more job related responsibility, including supervising work in progress, maintenance and protection, schedule, record keeping and proactive problem solving.

We are seeking candidates in their senior year of college or in graduate school who have excellent oral and written communication skills, solid organizational ability and who are proactive problem solvers. Familiarity with construction terms and plans are expected.
