The National Museum of American Illustration (NMAI), founded in 1998, is the first national museum to be devoted exclusively to American illustration artwork. Familiar with Macintosh, MS Office, and Adobe Creative Suite. Web design skill is desirable but not mandatory.

(18-24 hours per week, Thurs – Sun, 10:45 am to 5:00 pm)

Part Time NMAI Internship involves assisting with museum admissions and Museum shop functions at the NMAI. Guiding tours, interacting with the public, answering questions about the Museum’s buildings, grounds, and the collection. Operating the cash register at the admissions desk and in the Museum shop, supervising the galleries and museum shop area.

FULL TIME Internship

(40 hours per week, Wed – Sun, 9am to 5pm)

In addition to the duties in the Part Time Internship, the Full Time Internship includes general office work and administrative assistance, graphic design projects, filing, archival organization and other similar tasks.

The ideal candidate will have enthusiasm and a strong interest in art, art history, and illustration.

The internship position is for assisting with admissions and gift shop operations at the NMAI during the Fall 2013 semester, and/or Winter break and 2014 Spring Semester. Consideration for continuing the internship through the summer months and assisting in museum office operations will be given to interns interested in doing so.

National Museum of American Illustration 4 Part-time, Paid Responsibilities

This Internship position is to assist with visitors and tour groups, admissions and gift shop operations as well as events held at the Museum such as our July 30th Gala event honoring NBC's Today Show Host Matt Lauer, Actress/Author Evangeline Lilly of TV's Lost series, The Hobbit, etc., and much heralded Editorial Cartoonist Paul Szep for their contributions to Popular American Culture.

We are open to the public during the Spring and Summer Season (Seasonal schedule starts on: Memorial Day Weekend and ends Labor Day Weekend). Responsibilities include interacting with the public regarding the Museum's notable American Imagist Collection as well as the Museum’s historic buildings and grounds, including our three-acre Frederick Law Olmsted Park adjacent to the NMAI. Interns will also supervise the exhibition galleries, and the Museum area in general as well as performing tasks related to the MuseShop (our Museum Store) located in our lower level adjacent to four other art galleries.
