EDUCATION RESEARCH INTERNS (3) for Nonprofit NEF – excellent opportunity to learn and make a difference

LOCATION: Alexandria, VA (2 blocks from the Van Dorn Metro) in the Washington, DC Area

National Education Foundation (NEF), and , is the national nonprofit leader in bridging the academic, digital and employment divides. NEF’s missions are to set up K-12 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) CyberLearning Academies in most disadvantaged schools in the Nation by the year 2020, and to provide job prep scholarships to a million jobseekers in 2010. Currently, NEF has several successful Cyberlearning Academies in numerous states across the country. Our goal is to improve the STEM skills of our students, so as to prepare them for college and 21st Century workforce. See to see how successful our academy program is.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Conduct research studies pertaining to all aspects of K-12 education, and job prep, data collection as well some administrative duties. Mine data to assist in grant analysis and writing. Target disadvantaged school districts across the Nation for grant, scholarship and “Adopt-a-School” new media campaigns. You will be organically going to educator forums, communities and groups that are appropriate. This position reports to the head of the Academy department.

The applicant will also get a unique opportunity to be mentored by NEF Chairman Dr. Appu Kuttan, a philanthropist, global systems expert and author of many innovative concepts and books including Management By Systems (MBS) and HAPPY EXECUTIVE


As the first contact with Public School Administrators, you will introduce the Foundation and our mission to help students gain access to STEM and CTE courses. You will be required to effectively communicate on the phone NEF STEM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Math) grant and funding information.

National Education Foundation 2 Part-time, Paid Requirements

• PASSIONATE about STEM education for disadvantaged students and in MAKING A DIFFERENCE (most important)

• Excellent written and verbal Communication skills (very important)

• Should HAVE BS/BA degree or better with a minimum GPA of 3.5 or an excellent track record

• Relevant technical skills including Internet research, Microsoft Office, E-Learning, etc.

• MUST HAVE excellent MARKETING skills

• GOOD TO HAVE SOCIAL MEDIA skills like marketing via Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter etc.
