Vivid Connect is a startup company in the early stages of business development. We are planning to launch our online channel in the next 3 months and are seeking driven and motivated individuals that would love to be involved and learn from the experience of starting and growing an entrepreneurial venture. Our company’s mission is to help small businesses and universities reach vital information and resources to successfully undergo international and global expansion. We are looking for a user experience geek with a strong interest in digital and app user experiences and designing for behavior change. As a Usability Researcher, you will be responsible for research that guides the roadmap and design of platforms, tools, processes, and user interfaces. Ideal candidate will have hands on experience with Voice of the Customer studies, in-person and remote usability studies with diverse audiences and experience working with technical teams to improve digital user experience. You should be able to evaluate a variety of products —from full websites to web widgets to mobile apps. Translating usability research findings into meaningful content strategy and product development recommendations will be an everyday part of your job, so you should enjoy working independently and collaboratively, have experience giving and receiving feedback on content, and have outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.

We are hiring for multiple positions in a MD and you’ll have an opportunity to telework. Some on-site work may be required, but don't worry about dress code…jeans, shorts and sandals are fine by us 🙂

Vivid Connect LLC 2 Part-time, Unpaid Responsibilities

+ Conduct environmental scans, detailed research and best practice research for Digital User Experience

+ Analyze data to determine themes, challenges and opportunities

+ Focus on fast, agile research methods that help quickly prototype, test, analyze, and refine design solutions

+ Provide recommendations for the best user experiences practices based on latest trends and best UX practice

+ Translate usability research findings into meaningful content strategy and product development recommendations

+ Define the high level Use Cases to help develop the best experiences for businesses and users using the Vivid Connect website

+ Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail

+ Define requirements and specifications and adjust as necessary based on user feedback and voice of the customer research findings

+ Conduct usability research with consumers and professionals, including usability testing, card sorting, prototype testing, etc.

+ Map existing and proposed user journeys and operational processes that support user journeys

+ Illustrate User Scenarios and interaction with different people/systems/tools

+ Gather (qualitative and quantitative) data from peer reviewed and reputable sources to determine highest priority jobs-to-be-done

+ Lead research on existing and/or proposed user experience designs to identify what is working for users and to highlight opportunities and gaps

+ Create wireframes, click-through mock-ups of user experience workflows or navigation, and videos of user experience vision.

+ Stay current on UX and usability best practices

+ Help develop UX best practices and perform heuristic reviews of digital user experiences based on established usability best practices

+ Conduct website analytics analysis and make specific recommendations based on findings

+ Integrate user research findings into product development

+ Write clear, concise reports (from top-level summaries to detailed technical reports) for delivery to clients

+ Work with the senior researcher, designers and writers on information architecture, user interaction, and content strategy recommendations

+ Participate in team brainstorming and strategy development sessions

+ Performs special projects, as assigned

Vivid Connect LLC 2 Part-time, Unpaid Requirements

Education, experience and training requirements/preferences:

+ Current enrollment in undergraduate or graduate program of study required

+ Major or specialization in business management, communication, global relations, marketing strategy, or similar field of study; relevant experience preferred

+ Knowledge of digital (web/mobile/tablet) user experience and business management best practices

+ Knowledge of latest trends in digital developments and user experiences worldwide

Other required skills and qualifications:

+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel and ability to learn new software programs quickly; Use of Microsoft Project is a plus

+ Experience with Visio and Axure is preferred

+ Experience conducting usability research with diverse audiences, including moderating and creating recommendations

+ Demonstrated effectiveness in a usability researcher task lead role, with an ability to establish and document processes

+ Experience providing high level editing and writing with limited supervision

+ Experience working with researchers, writers, graphic designers, and web developers

+ Experience drafting and finalizing client-facing reports and deliverables

+ Familiarity with Section 508 compliance, and best practices in usability and UX design

+ Ability to “think on your feet” and come up with creative and appropriate solutions

+ Ability to work well in teams with other highly-qualified professionals in a relaxed, culturally-diverse environment

+ Motivated to understand business people, and their behaviors, attitudes, and motivators

+ Outgoing, persuasive personality; able to influence user-centered decision-making

+ Good oral and written communication skills; able to distill and present research insights to others
